Let Freedom Ring

Yesterday was the 4th of July.

Despite our recent hardships - being broken into and totaling the Heart of Gold - we were able to celebrate the Independence of our county.

We started the morning at our favorite parade in Avondale Estates.

Finished the night at the top of our street.

all for a Birthday gift

Having worked out a compromise from all 4 parties (the pets were not included in this decision), Taran, Lucy and I spent time at Target (the other member of the clan dropped us on his way to Publix).  This was included in the discussions.

Oh Target - you are so - funny.  I wasn't in the mood to go, but after discussions were had, I was willing to go and experienced an awful lot of fun : masks, legos, robot claws (I had to use those claws to put back claw- there is no way I was going to use my hands - that would be wrong), candles (the red velvet cupcake scent was divine and made us so hungry), the food aisle, YanYan, and scoping out the parking lot for a new car.  Seriously, we need a new ride and, although I look nefarious as I am peeping in windows, I enjoy checking to see what folks have chosen.

Suburban Homesteading 101

Today we made some jam with Nana.

Strawberry Jam - I have I told you how much I love strawberry jam?

We have completed jars (made by us) sitting and waiting ... I feel they won't wait for long.

Time keeps on slipping into the future...(feel free to sing the whole song).

Seriously I haven't sat down and written in that long?  My mind is always so full of information, but sometimes I forget to download it (or in this case upload it) to share.

Now I will give you a photo dump :)

Letter to my Lucy:

Dear Lucy,

I am so happy that 7 years ago you decided to join our tribe.  I remember that night 7 years ago - the laughter and joy; me cracking jokes and having to stop to breathe through the contractions and then as they passed finishing the punch lines as your father held me up. Holding you for the first time was so amazing.  Introducing you to your big brother moments later was another exciting moment.  You give so much to all of us and we love you. Thank you.

May this 7th year of your life be as exciting, awe inspiring, full of love, laugh inspiring, adventurous, interesting, fun, thought provoking, and clever as are you.

Thank you, Lucy, for coming into our lives and giving so much!

Happy Birthday!

Pink Pig

Today, we got to do a favorite - visit Priscilla the Pink Pig.  I've been going since the 70's and my mother before me since the 50's - back then it was Rich's Pink Pig.  I rode round the bottom of a giant tree in downtown Atlanta.  Mom rode on a track round the inside of Rich's itself - did I mention that said track hung from the ceiling?  One year we had 3 generations of Pink Pig riders on the train (Mom, myself, Taran and Lucy)!

I love taking Taran and Lucy every year - we have so much fun.  This year, Priscilla even wished us a Happy Winter Solstice - recognize!
