Talk Like a Pirate Day

This morning saw a combination of two our favorite things:
Krispy Kreme donuts and talk like a pirate day.
We left port and headed out for some pirate booty.

the cashier even took our picture and we not only scored a luscious box of golden delicious glazed donuts but individual treasures as well!

Arrr matey, enjoy the day!_

Japan Fest

For years, Atlanta has been hosting a v. cool event and I finally got to go this year.  The husband and the kids went last year and had a delightful time (I often hear about it).  This year they asked me to join them.  How could I resist an invite to such a wonderful day?

We saw Sumo Wrestlers ... did you know that there are female wrestlers here in GA?

Met up with our friends (whose company we always enjoy) and saw the Samurai and his 18 assistants (most amusing his assistants).  The Samurai carefully controlled the placement of his assistants so only 7 samurai were on stage at one time - most funny.

We visited the koi and goldfish show - Lucy had hoped to bring comet (our newly adopted goldfish), but I wasn't sure we could pull that off - I mean, I have seen purse dogs, but a purse goldfish was not something I wished to contemplate.

Vendors, oh what goods they were selling - I could easily have left a few hundred dollars there, fortunately, I did not.  They sold items of anime and those of paper and some of silks ... oh how I would love to stroll through there again.  We did bring home a Shadow Lugia, an Espion and a inflatable toy dog on wheels.
We spoke with many people and had a lovely time - so much fun people are!

Did I mention the piece de resistance?  The food?!  I had been hearing about the tonkotsu ramen from Umaido that had been sold there for almost a year and so, we grabbed some ramen and we ate and ate and ate (did I mention how large the portions were?). The pork was like butter and the miso was most tasty.  Lucy finished up the ramen with a bit of dirt from Sunno - no worms though!

Fort Dunleith

What else to do on a rainy day?

Unreal is real tasty

Last week not only did we celebrate Chuck's Birthday (see previous post), visit the DragonCon parade (nope, not any photos - long story), but we also had a delightful house guest.

As part of our gamer treats (can't continue to party with Mario if you don't have something to share), I brought out the (remainder of the) Unreal Candies.

I am now a BzzAgent and from time to time they send you products to try or, in this case, coupons - after all I would not want to be shipped melted chocolate. I was pleased with the taste of the product and enjoyed the coloring methods employed - candy that uses beetroot juice, turmeric root extract, purple cabbage juice for coloring purposes has to be cool.  Most important, the three young folk in our home were clamoring for more - tells you something!
